“It’s all about helping people,” says Ed Barker, an employee of AMERISAFE since 1999. Ed has an extensive history of serving people, starting with his service in the United States Army. During his time with the Army, where he served as a Platoon Leader, an Officer and graduated from Ranger School. After receiving an honorable discharge, he began working for an independent insurance agent in Delaware where most of his focus was on commercial accounts. In 1999, Ed moved to DeRidder, Louisiana, where he was first hired as a direct agent with AMERISAFE. In 2000, he was awarded the AMERISAFE “Young Gun Award” for having the highest sales volume of all direct agents which lead him to his current position at AGAI as Account Executive. At AGAI, Ed focuses in the areas of construction, transportation and wood product industries, in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He obtained his Certified Insurance Counselors designation in 2011.
Ed believes insurance is an intangible product and providing exceptional service and proper coverage, at a fair price, builds lasting relationships with clients.

In his personal time, Ed enjoys several outdoor activities. His favorite is chasing large, saltwater fish in the Atlantic Ocean.
